Sustainability At Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre
We are committed to sustainability, incorporating eco-friendly initiatives to reduce our environmental impact and promote a greener future.

Our Sustainability Promise
At Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre, we recognise the influence and impact that our business has on the environment and the communities in which we operate. We are committed to sustainability and to minimising our environmental footprint, while enhancing the wellbeing of our guests, employees and local communities. We are supported in this journey by our sustainability accreditation partner, Green Tourism.
Supporting Our Community
We're proud to support and engage with the diverse communities that surround us. We have actively sponsored and supported events such as the Chinese Mid-Year Festival and the Asian Chamber of Commerce's Diwali celebrations, hosted at our venue. Our commitment to community involvement extends to Acorn's charity, with whom we began our partnership on 08/01/2025. As we are located in the Chinese Quarter, we have developed strong ties with the Chinese community, continuing to sponsor key events like the Mid-Autumn Festival. We are also the only hotel in Birmingham's Gay Village, where we have formed connections, sponsored events, and supported the Pride Festival. Additionally, we promote local eateries and activities on our website and ensure that leaflets about local walks and attractions are available in high-footfall areas, such as reception and the ground-floor lift area, providing guests with easy access to discover the rich culture and history of the area.

Environmental Initiatives
We're committed to monitoring and improving our energy efficiency. We report all consumptions through Hilton’s LightStay system, comparing them with last year's readings to track our progress and identify areas for improvement. To reduce energy usage, we have installed industry-standard LED lights throughout the hotel, and all public areas and offices are equipped with motion sensors to ensure lighting is used only when necessary.
Our Building Management System allows us to control heating and lighting, ensuring optimal temperatures and energy savings. Furthermore, we recently upgraded our boiler system in August, which is more efficient than its predecessor, further enhancing our commitment to sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint.
Our Team
We are committed to creating a safe, healthy, and sustainable workplace for all team members. Our staff play an active role in minimising our environmental impact, with regular sustainability training and the support of an on-site Sustainability Champion. We closely monitor business and staff travel, encouraging public transport and car-sharing wherever possible to reduce emissions. To further our commitment to sustainability, we have incorporated EV vehicles into our operations. Additionally, we track energy and activity targets, reporting progress monthly to our head office, ensuring continuous improvement in our environmental initiatives.

Guest Support
We proudly display our Green Award in the atrium for guests and clients to see, and we also highlight it in all our correspondence, including emails and letters. To promote sustainability, we offer guests the option to opt out of having their towels and bedding changed during their stay, with Clean the World tent cards placed in all rooms as a reminder.
We also support green travel by providing electric vehicle charging bays for guests visiting us.
Our menu offers vegetarian and vegan options, catering to diverse dietary preferences and ensuring we reduce our environmental impact. You can find our menus on our website, as well as on Hilton’s site, our own social media channels, and OpenTable, where we share our commitment to sustainability with our guests.
Your Feedback
We value guest feedback and input in driving innovative ideas to reduce the environmental impact of our hotel. We encourage our guests to share their ideas and suggestions with each venue on reducing waste, conserving resources, and promoting sustainable practices. By working together with our guests, we can continue to build a sustainability programme that provides them with the flexibility and freedom to stay in a way that aligns with their values and preferences while also contributing to a more sustainable future.
